Holy Week Wednesday- April 8, 2020 Intercession against sexual immorality
April 8, 2020, 8:10 AM

My conviction in light of current events is that we need to intercede for our nation.  We need to not just have days of prayer, we need to have a great confession of sin and turning back toward God.  We pray for victory over the virus; health for those afflicted, protection against the illness, wisdom for our leaders and researchers, economic mercy and grace.  But we also need to pray for the spiritual sickness covering our land.  We need to see ourselves in the light of the One to Whom we pray.

His Word describes to us what sin is.  While there are plenty of areas for personal conviction  and interpretation, there are also certain behaviors that we are told that are blatant sin.  [For example, Galatians 5:19-21].  Sin must also be acknowledged, confessed and turned from; that is the grounds of being in right relationship with God throughout the scriptures.

So today my focus is intercessory prayer in general but with a special focus on praying against the sexual immorality in all of its many forms that pervades  our land.  Premarital, extra-marital in any form, same gender, pornographic, trafficking and exploitation.  We have become a nation so far from God's plan in this area, and are reaping so much heartache and pain as a result.

God's plan is for a pure heart and a disciplined mind that overcomes the world.  (1 John 2: 15-17; 4:4; James 3:8).  We pray as Daniel prayed in chapter 9 of the OT book by his name, repenting ourselves as needed, and then interceding for our nation.  We pray that the conviction of the Holy Spirit will awaken hearts and minds.
