The Church of Today

The old saying goes like this: "our children are the church of tomorrow."  We at Waynesville Church of the Nazarene believe that is true, however, we realize more importantly that our children are the church of today!  It is our desire to see that children learn at a young age the joy of coming to God's house.  Our programs have but one goal, to help children build a foundation in which to build their faith.  We do this through song, Bible stories, prayer, and yes, even fun activities!

Children's Church - Sunday AM

Sunday mornings the children join their parents for first portion of the Morning Worship Service, and then the younger children (through 3rd grade) are dismissed (if they so desire) to Children's Church. The first Sunday of the month all grade school children stay in for the entire service in intergenerational worship.  Then we have a short period after the worship services for Cookie Fellowship.  This is a time of refreshment before we go to Sunday School Classes.  Sunday School is a time where we learn a Bible Story, maybe sing some songs, and do a craft or activity.

Bible Study - Wednesday PM
On Wednesday evenings we have a meal together fro 6-6:30, then we have a Children's Bible Study until 7:30. We do children's quizzing, or learn a Bible story, make a craft and usually have a snack time before they wrap things up in a prayer circle.

Vacation Bible School and Super Saturday's
Every year we like to do extra outreach programs such as Vacation Bible School with our children.  Ocasionally we do a one day VBS we call Super Saturdays.  One of our Super Saturdays was "Bug Safari" which focused on how big God is and that He's our very best friend.  The children sang songs, played outdoor games, make edible ants and drank "bug juice" for snacks, experienced a Bible story and heard from puppet, Chadder the Chipmunk. The kids had a wonderful time learning about God's love for them.

Special Programs
We also like to do something special at Easter and Christmas with the children.  Some years we've had short plays, and other years we've simply acted out the Nativity while the Christmas story is being read.  Whatever it is, you'll not want to miss it!
